HAWE Hydraulik – a leading manufacturer of hydraulic components and systems – based in Munich, Germany sponsored a Zurich Living Case™ for the 2 week module on Human Resources Management.
Key contact persons at HAWE were Stefan Schmid, Director of Quality & Organisation and Anja Lehr, Team Manager HR Management. Professors in charge at the Lorange Institute were Ian Williamson (Melbourne) and Marcus Stewart (Bentley).
The focus of the project was:
- To develop approaches more effective recruiting – an issue particularly important to HAWE, given its rapid growth and highly specialized competence needs, for instance in sensor technology.
- To develop approaches for promotions and retention, based on better being able to have “the best person at the best position”
- To explore ways for HAWE to strengthen other key aspects of its personal policy, such a strengthened website, the future development of HAWE’s key values / culture document, and, perhaps an approach to account for the “value” of HAWE’s human resources – partly based on the competence levels of the employers, and partly on the degree of match between general competences and relevant specific tasks.
